Was doing the course a good idea?

It was definitely a good decision. I had been thinking about doing stand up for probably three years or so. The course forced me to pull together all my vague ideas into something useable. It was just the right time for me, I don't think I would've been ready a few months earlier. It helped me turn my dreams into reality! If I knew anyone interested in doing comedy i would definitely recommend it to them, as I had it recommended to me.

Definitely a good idea. i found out that i can transfer my curiositys and observations into a set which makes the general public laugh.i got a lot of confidence and a lot of friends in the stand up world from it, as well as the knowledge that this is something I can be good at (assuming i stay on the safe side of bad taste).

Definitely was a fab idea. I’m really glad I did it for personal reasons but also because I think it will really benefit any writing projects I do in the future. The deadline of the weekly workshops and the gig really helped me focus on my work and I learned a lot about cutting out the unnecessary stuff and what can be learned from performing in front of other people.

The main thing that stood out and I can’t emphasise this enough was the positive atmosphere that was generated by yourselves. You really were great at creating the right atmosphere for people to share their work in a really positive way.
Ciara

Ciaran really generates a positive atmosphere for people to work together. Great at improv exercises. Really helpful with constructive criticism and provides really good guidance on improving material. Great idea with the homework.

For me it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself for years .
Most of what you do in life is with other people in mind and when I was thinking about doing this my wife kept saying to me just do it you will love it and I loved every second of it.
From it I meet so great people had some great laughs and now have the Comedy bug so I have already contacted the Ha’Penny bar about getting a open mic slot in Jan if they have one.

I think the best think about the workshop was the way my mind went once I started. Stories in the paper all seemed to have a slant and as I read things I would be thinking can I put a twist on that and make it my own. And yes I would say I got material from the workshop and that god for that because if I went on stage with what I had written the first time I would have Died , Died , Died so thanks for that.
Eugene

I never thought I would have gone on stage 5 weeks ago. I was actually thinking of cancelling but I guess it was down to your teaching that I didnt and went on stage, so yes your very good....

Before I did this course I had done… acting, sketch writing / performing and various theatre / film production roles.
A n enjoyable 6 week course in comedy, with a highly rewarding end product.the course helped me produce lots of material, i have no idea how many minutes i have, that i havent performed, maybe a half hour. The most beneficial thing for me was…the pay off at the end, a filled room laughing.
